Snow leopards can leap 29 feet! Snow leopards make a chuffing or prusten sound when they greet each other or are happy– a friendly, joyful breathy snort, made by exhaling quickly thru their noses. Their furry paws support them like snowshoes on the snow. Their fur is long -5 cm to 12 cm. Their long belly fur helps keep them from sliding on steep snow.  They can ramble 25 miles in one night. They live up high- 3000 to 4500 meters. They are threatened by poaching, illegal trade in skins and bodyparts, climate change, conflicts with livestock grazers, and decreases in prey numbers caused by livestock grazing and the cutting of trees for firewood.   Their long furry tails store fat for warmth, help with balance, and keep their faces warm when they sleep.
